Student Life

Life as a student is about more than just the time spent in scheduled classes or the time spent in the workplace as an apprentice. You will have the opportunity to try new activities, meet new people and become more independent.

Our FutureMe mentors have taken some time to discuss their own student lives, how they found the transition from school to higher education and what their favourite parts of studying are. You can listen by clicking play below.

A week in the life...

Here are two example timetables from higher education students.

This student has a mixture of lectures, seminars, group work and private study. It's not all about study though, this student has time to volunteer and work part-time. It's also important to make time to relax and unwind!

You'll notice that the weekly schedule for someone completing a degree apprenticeship is slightly different. The first four days of the week are spent at an employer while the fifth day is spent studying at a college or university. Although this week is structured differently, you'll notice some similarities to the schedule above. There is still an element of independent study and there is still time to relax and catch up with friends!
