FutureMe on TV!

The FutureMe Enterprise Challenge is a joint programme of activity between FutureMe and the three football clubs in the region; Middlesbrough FC, Newcastle United FC, and Sunderland AFC. Students taking part benefit from receiving the Premier League Core Programme and FutureMe workshops which are all delivered in school throughout the summer term. The premier league core programme introduces students to business and enterprise in the context of a football club, learning that football is about so much more than the 11 players on the pitch! Students are supported in applying their new knowledge and skills to a challenge set by FutureMe. This year students were asked to:

“Create a 30 second YouTube advertisement to encourage young men into higher education”

This year’s challenge saw 493 students from 44 schools come together to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges across five celebration events. Each final saw an area winner, who have had their ideas transformed into comic strips to form part of a new FutureMe resource.

These five area winners had their submissions considered by an independent panel of judges and the students of Grace College were victorious. Supported by Newcastle United Foundation,  the students had designed a ‘VR style’ video to showcase how exciting higher education can be. The video was professionally filmed in September and this week the students launched their video on North East Live. If you missed Monday’s feature on the local news you can see it below.

FutureMe would like to take this opportunity to thank all three football clubs, Tyne and Wear TV, Anton Brand, and of course all of the students and schools who took part in our 2019 Challenge.
